The red lines show how to litter-pick the entire Little Rissington parish road system in two sorties. A sortie can be completed in under two hours.
A PRISTINE PARISh AND A WALK IN THE SUNSHINE
The roads of the entire Little Rissington parish are now being litter-picked twice a week and sometimes more.
But you will still see some litter particularly outside the village.
Therefore, the goal is to litter-pick the roads three times a week and then ask ourselves whether we can think of the parish as pristine. With that in mind, we would hugely welcome anyone who could occasionally or regularly litter-pick West Rissy and/or East Rissy (see maps above). Both take under two hours. In fact, at a fast walk they can each be done in under 90 minutes.
With the current 2+ picks per week, the parish is already relatively clean so look on it as an invigorating walk and an opportunity to boost your vitamin D.
We have litter-picking claws and hi-vis waistcoats that are yours to keep. If taking children (they love using the claws), you will find West Rissy a better bet because it comprises a footpath, a back road with little traffic and the main road with a pavement.
If we can transform our parish, we have a better chance of being able to spread the initiative to neighbouring parishes (Great Rissington has asked for a presentation of the Eden System on 2 April) and enjoying litter-free roads beyond our patch.
